🌱 Chapter 1

Your First Hour in Palworld

🪨

Punch trees & pick up stones

Grab Wood, Stone, and Fiber from the ground. These three materials build everything early on.

🔨

Craft basic tools

Open your inventory, craft a Stone Pickaxe and Stone Axe. They speed up gathering by a lot.

🏠

Place your Palbox

This is your base. Put it on flat ground near trees, rocks, and water. Later you'll use the Palworld Breeding Calculator — for now, just survive.

🔵

Craft Pal Spheres

You need Paldium Fragments + Stone + Wood. Make at least 5–6 spheres before hunting Pals.

🍖

Build a Campfire & cook food

Raw meat restores little. Cook it. Cooked food keeps your hunger and sanity stable longer.

💡

One link only: Once you unlock breeding at Level 19, bookmark our Cake Farming Guide — you'll need a lot of cakes.

🐣 Chapter 2

Your First Pals — What to Catch Early

Not all early Pals are equal. These four will carry you through the first 10 levels.

🐑

Lamball

Normal

Easy to catch, produces Wool at your base, and is a solid early-game companion for gathering.

🐱

Cattiva

Normal

Boosts your carrying capacity and works fast at the ranch. One of the most underrated starters.

🦊

Foxparks

Fire

Your first Kindling Pal. Essential for cooking and smelting. Also decent in early combat.

🐿️

Lifmunk

Grass

Shreds through Water-type Pals. Great for early battles and tree chopping at your base.

🎯

Catching trick most beginners miss

Weaken the Pal first — get it below 30% health — then throw your sphere from behind. Back hits have a much higher catch rate. This saves tons of spheres early on.

🏗️ Chapter 3

Base Building 101

Your base is your home, factory, and fortress. Build these structures in this order for the smoothest start.

📦

Palbox

Priority 1

Your base anchor and fast-travel point. Place it on flat ground near trees, stone, and water.

🔧

Primitive Workbench

Priority 2

Unlocks all early crafting recipes. Build this right after the Palbox — no delay.

🔥

Campfire

Priority 3

Cooks raw meat into proper meals. Assign a Fire Pal to keep it lit automatically.

🛏️

Pal Bed

Priority 4

Deployed Pals need rest. One bed per Pal — tired Pals work slow and get stressed.

📦

Storage Box

Priority 5

Inventory fills up fast. Place a storage box next to your workbench so materials stay close and crafting stays fast.

🛡️

Don't forget defence

Once your base has value, raids start. Build a few Defensive Walls and keep a combat Pal deployed — even a low-level Foxparks can buy you time.

⛏️ Chapter 4

Resources & Crafting — What to Farm First

Don't waste time gathering the wrong things. These six materials power your first 20 levels.

🪵

Wood

Building & Tools

The most used early resource. Punch trees or assign a Grass Pal to chop them at your base.

🪨

Stone

Structures & Spheres

Found everywhere. Pick up loose stones early, then mine nodes with a Pickaxe for more.

💎

Paldium Fragments

Pal Spheres

Small blue crystals near water. Essential for crafting spheres — always grab these when you see them.

🌿

Fiber

Cloth & Repair

From bushes and plants. Needed for cloth, beds, and repairs. Easy to overlook, painful to run out of.

⚙️

Ore

Ingots & Weapons

Big brown rocks with metallic veins. Turns into Ingots at a furnace — the gateway to guns and better gear.

🦴

Leather & Bones

Armour & Ammo

Drops from defeated Pals. Stockpile these — armour and arrows consume them constantly.

🔄

Pro tip: automate gathering early

Assign Pals with Logging and Mining work suitabilities to your base. They'll gather Wood and Stone while you explore — passive income changes everything.

⚡ Chapter 5

Understanding Pal Types & Elements

Every Pal has an element. Using the right type against the wrong opponent wins fights fast.

🔥

Fire

Strong vs Grass/Ice

Melts through Grass and Ice Pals. Essential for Kindling at your base — cooking and smelting.

💧

Water

Strong vs Fire

Douses Fire Pals completely. Also handles Watering tasks at your farm and mills.

🌿

Grass

Strong vs Water/Ground

Shreds Water and Ground types. Great for Logging and early-game combat dominance.

Electric

Strong vs Water

Water Pals stand no chance. Electric types also power generators for advanced bases.

❄️

Ice

Strong vs Dragon

The only hard counter to Dragon types. Also keeps your Cooler Box running.

🐉

Dragon

Strong vs Dark

Rare but devastating. Dominates Dark Pals. Most legendary Pals carry this type.

🎯

Quick matchup rule for beginners

Fire beats Grass → Grass beats Water → Water beats Fire. That triangle alone covers 70% of early fights. Keep one of each in your team and you'll always have the advantage.

🥚 Chapter 6

Introduction to Breeding

Breeding is how you get rare Pals without hunting them. Here's how to start.

🔓

Reach Level 19

Step 1

Breeding unlocks at Technology Level 19. Focus on catching and base-building until you hit this milestone.

🏗️

Build the Breeding Farm

Step 2

Costs 100 Wood, 20 Stone, 50 Fiber. Place it inside your base with enough space for both Pals to move.

🍰

Bake a Cake

Step 3

Every breed consumes 1 Cake. Check our Cake Farming Guide for the full recipe and automation tips.

Assign Male & Female

Step 4

Pick one male and one female Pal. Gender doesn't change the offspring species — only passive skill inheritance.

🥚

Collect the Egg

Step 5

Wait for the breeding bar to fill, then grab the egg. Incubate it in the right temperature for its element type.

🧮

Use the Calculator

Step 6

Don't guess — plan. Our Palworld Breeding Calculator shows exactly which two Pals produce your dream offspring.

💡

Your first breeding goal

Try breeding Penking × Bushi to get Anubis — one of the best base Pals in the game. It has Handiwork Lv4 and is achievable as early as Level 20.
