Master the art of Cake production in Palworld — the most critical resource for breeding. Learn every ingredient, build automated farms, and never let your Breeding Farm sit idle again.
Each Cake requires exactly five ingredients, all of which can be farmed automatically with the right Pals. Before you fire up the Palworld Breeding Calculator and start pairing Pals, make sure your ingredient supply chain is solid.
Made by processing Wheat at a Mill. Grow Wheat at a Wheat Plantation and assign a Watering Pal to keep it irrigated.
Harvested from Berry Plantations. One of the easiest ingredients — assign a Planting and Gathering Pal to automate production fully.
Produced by assigning a Mozzarina to a Ranch. Each Mozzarina passively generates Milk over time — no extra input needed.
Laid by Chikipi at a Ranch. Like Milk, this is passive — just assign a Chikipi and collect Eggs periodically.
Generated by Beegarde at a Ranch. Beegarde can also be found in the wild, but ranching is far more reliable for steady Honey supply.
Don't wait until your Breeding Farm is built to start gathering Cake ingredients. Set up Wheat and Berry Plantations plus a Ranch with Mozzarina, Chikipi, and Beegarde by Level 15. When you unlock the Breeding Farm at Level 19, you'll already have Cakes ready. Combine this with a solid farm layout — see our Breeding Farm Setup Guide for optimal placement.
Stop crafting Cakes manually. Follow this step-by-step setup to build a self‑sustaining Cake factory that runs while you explore, breed, and plan your next perfect pair.
Place 2–3 Berry Plantations and 2 Wheat Plantations on flat ground. Build a Mill nearby to process Wheat into Flour. Add a Cooking Pot adjacent to these for the final Cake crafting step.
Every ingredient needs a specific Pal type. Assign Planting Pals to seed your plantations, Watering Pals to irrigate them, and Gathering Pals to harvest. At the Mill, assign a Watering Pal to turn Wheat into Flour.
Build a Ranch and assign Mozzarina (Milk), Chikipi (Eggs), and Beegarde (Honey). These three Pals generate their respective ingredients passively over time — no extra work required after assignment.
The final step: assign a Kindling Pal (like Foxparks or Jormuntide Ignis) to your Cooking Pot. Select the Cake recipe and let it run. As long as all five ingredients are in nearby storage, your Kindling Pal will produce Cakes continuously.
One Ranch with one of each Pal works, but two Ranches with multiple Mozzarina and Chikipi dramatically increase Milk and Egg output. If you're running multiple Breeding Farms, scale your Ranch setup first — more ingredients mean more Cakes, and more Cakes mean more eggs.
Building the setup is step one. These expert tips help you squeeze every last Cake out of your production line — keeping your Breeding Farms fed and your eggs hatching nonstop.
Pals with Artisan, Work Slave, or Serious passives work faster at plantations, the Mill, and the Cooking Pot. Breed dedicated worker Pals specifically for your Cake production line — the speed difference is dramatic.
Place a Guild Chest or regular storage box directly next to your Cooking Pot. Pals spend less time walking to deliver ingredients, which means more time actually crafting Cakes.
Don't stop at one Mozzarina and one Chikipi. Assign 3–4 of each to your Ranch as soon as you can. Milk and Eggs are the two ingredients that limit most players — overproduce them from the start.
Cake production is fully passive once set up. Leave your game running while you sleep and wake up to dozens of Cakes ready. Just make sure your Pals have enough food and beds to sustain the session.
Kindling level directly affects cooking speed. Jormuntide Ignis (Kindling Lv4) is the best, but Blazehowl Noct (Lv4) and Reptyro (Lv3) are excellent alternatives. Upgrade your Kindling Pal as you progress.
Before starting a big breeding push, let your Cake factory run for 2–3 in-game days uninterrupted. A stockpile of 30–40 Cakes means you can breed back‑to‑back without ever waiting on production.
Always produce more than you need. A single Breeding Farm consumes 1 Cake per breeding cycle, but with multiple farms running, demand skyrockets. For every Breeding Farm you build, add one extra Ranch Pal and one extra plantation to keep supply ahead of demand. Running out of Cake is the #1 reason breeding programs stall.

Each Cake requires exactly five ingredients, all of which can be produced automatically:
Once your production line is running, you'll never need to gather these manually again. For help setting up the full production chain, see our Breeding Farm Setup Guide.
You need a Cooking Pot, which unlocks at Technology Level 17. The Cake recipe becomes available at the same time. You'll also need a Mill (Level 15) for Flour, and a Ranch (Level 5) for Milk, Eggs, and Honey. Plan your tech unlocks in this order: Ranch → Mill → Cooking Pot.
Yes — 100% automation is possible. Assign Planting, Watering, and Gathering Pals to your plantations, Mozzarina/Chikipi/Beegarde to your Ranch, a Watering Pal to your Mill, and a Kindling Pal to your Cooking Pot. As long as all stations are staffed and within range, Cakes will be produced continuously without any manual input.
For a single Breeding Farm, 10–15 Cakes is a comfortable buffer. If you're running 2–3 farms simultaneously, aim for 30–50 Cakes. Each breeding cycle consumes 1 Cake, and rarer Pals take longer to produce an egg. Having extra Cakes ensures you never pause your breeding program. Use the Palworld Breeding Calculator to plan your pairs while your Cakes stockpile.
Several things can stop Cake production:
If problems persist, try repositioning your Cooking Pot closer to your storage boxes. The Breeding Farm Setup Guide has layout tips that apply to Cake production too.
